Explore the less trodden layers of Tokyo and Japanese culture whilst developing your photographic skills.

Meg Hewitt has travelled to Tokyo many times to create her body of work, ‘Tokyo Is Yours’ and will introduce you to many places outside of the usual route.

Over five days you will further develop your own style and learn more about Meg’s techniques whilst developing a new series of work.

The workshop will commence with a review of your existing portfolio where we will discuss your personal progression through the course. Each day there will be group sessions and time one on one. We will focus on shooting, editing and sequencing, culminating in a short projection of your new work at the end of the workshop.

March and April are one of the best times of year to visit Japan as the weather is mild, the light good and you may also have the opportunity to experience hanami – cherry blossom viewing.

The venue for the workshop will be near Asakusa and I am very excited to announce we are now offering accomodation included in the package.

On offer is six nights Japanese style accommodation from March 27 to April 2 and a Wagyu or vegetarian dinner together on the first night before the workshop. During the workshop there is wifi available, free tea and coffee and discounted beer and sake at the venue. There are eight individual Japanese style rooms available with two bathrooms. The accommodation is contemporary and clean.

The workshop is suited to all levels of experience and utilising all forms of photographic process. You may use either film or digital cameras. The workshop will be held in English

Cost of the workshop does not included travel or on the ground daily expenses. It is also advisable to purchase travel insurance for unexpected events as we are not responsible for travel cancellation costs.

If the workshop fees are paid in full there is a 10% discount at check out. Otherwise you can reserve your place with a 30% deposit.

The balance is due by the 20th of February, 2019
If you cancel 10% will be held as a fee. If we cancel the workshop for any reason a full refund of workshop fees paid will be made.

Some feedback from the 2018 Workshop

Had an awesome time in Tokyo and really enjoyed the workshop. Great to be pushed to do things a bit out of the comfort zone (ie approaching people directly) and take on new challenges in a new location.

Really got a lot of inspiration and encouragement from you, Marco and all the participants - which was very motivating. It’s great to learn from people whose work I admire, as I find this always helps me get closer to where I want to be with my work.

Beyond style, beyond technique, beyond craft: Meg Hewitt’s workshop – in fact, her work – is about VOICE. If you’re seeking your own visual voice, join one of her workshops…as I did!!!  Japan was the perfect venue!!!
